I just received news on Independence Day that my Cousin in Rome, Italy is pregnant!
She and her husband are happy for this news.
I am also happy for them. And, I knew that I would have to create a card to congratulate them….
Here is what came out of my craft room this morning….
The material which the card is sitting on was bought to match Winnie the Pooh material for a baby bag…
Looks like I will be busy this winter!
I absolutely love monkeys and always “hang” around with them at the zoo.
I recently purchased a monkey stamp, which is so adorable.
Here is one card which I’ve created with that stamp…
Another ‘flag from scraps’ which I created.
Enjoy the day!
I have been making homemade cards (with my Personal Card Challenge to use my scraps of cardstock and scrapbook paper laying on my craft table) and lately I’ve been making various flags of countries.
In Memory of my Italian Mother, who was born in Rome and raised in Italy, here is my Italy Flag card…..
if you’ve read any of my other posts regarding My Personal Card Challenge, you know that I am trying to use scraps of paper to make cards.
i have been looking through the stack of scraps to find common elements between the pieces. if you have common elements in scraps of craft paper, you will have a card which is ‘tied together.’
for this card, i found several scraps which have circles. even the final element which i added, the flower-brad, is composed of small circles.
When cutting those die-cuts for your homemade cards, don’t forget the ‘negative space/scraps’ which are left behind.
They work great for cards too! I placed this on a metallic white cardstock (even though it is difficult to see in this particular photo).
The sender could ‘journal’ their personal message to the recipient in the fancy swirls.
Or just leave it as it is!
I absolutely love paper crafts! Ever since my friend introduced me to the world of scrapbooking, several years ago, I have gone ‘nuts’ on card making as well! Currently, I have so many ‘scraps’ lying around from several years’ worth of card making. I have made several hundred cards for friends, family and OperationWriteHome.org. If you enjoy card making, and a FANTASTIC cause, check out their website!
So, I’m challenging myself to use all of the scraps lying on my craft table, before I begin cutting into beautiful unused 12×12 sheets of cardstock and scrapbooking paper. Believe me when I say that is a difficult thing for me to avoid! I have so much paper and supplies in my craft room and on my table (including items I’ve kept to ‘upcycle’) that it can be overwhelming most days to sit down and even create a card.
But, this morning I have done just that!
I love looking through the clearance items/bins at Michael’s for anything unique and cheap! Cheap doesn’t always mean that you will pick up bad or ugly items. I picked up this cute stamp in the clearance bin last evening, and I absolutely love it!! It is titled “Scenic Villa” and I immediately thought of Italy! So, I wanted to create a card with this stamp and the colors of the Mediterranean.
What do you think?
